My career is distinguished by a comprehensive understanding of enterprise technology ecosystems and a proven track record of implementing innovative solutions that consistently exceed business requirements. I excel in managing complex IT infrastructure, developing strategic technology roadmaps, and leading transformative digital initiatives that drive organizational efficiency and growth.
Throughout my career, I have demonstrated exceptional technical expertise in managing and deploying Microsoft Enterprise Suite software alongside a diverse range of manufacturer products. My approach combines technical proficiency with strong business acumen, allowing me to align technology solutions with organizational objectives while maintaining a focus on end-user experience and satisfaction.
My professional philosophy centers on inclusion and accessibility in technology. This is evidenced by my successful lobbying efforts with the Australian Labour Party for the Digital Education Revolution in 2005, ensuring disadvantaged students could access vital IT educational resources. As a founding instigator of "The Bush Schools Network," I worked extensively with remote schools to enhance their technological infrastructure and capabilities, an initiative that was subsequently adopted nationwide.
I am seeking a position that will leverage my extensive experience in IT management and systems engineering, allowing me to continue driving technological innovation and delivering exceptional value to stakeholders at all levels.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
SENIOR IT SUPPORT OFFICER
Engaged on a short-term contract to provide comprehensive IT support across multiple campuses including Leederville, Mount Lawley, North Bridge, and Joondalup. As the key onsite support desk lead, I managed a diverse range of responsibilities encompassing system management, user support, and infrastructure maintenance.
My role involved implementing new PC rollouts, documenting staff movements and asset propagation, and troubleshooting device-related issues. I provided specialized assistance with software requirements and installed IP telephone and POS networking appliances. Additionally, I was responsible for the general operation and maintenance of campus IT infrastructure, ensuring consistent service delivery and minimal disruption to educational activities.
SYSTEMS ENGINEER
Managed the comprehensive IT requirements of the company, encompassing user management, troubleshooting, and consultancy services. My responsibilities extended to maintaining telecommunications infrastructure, local area networks, IT security protocols, and core business central services.
I strengthened the company and client IT infrastructure by implementing new technologies and was responsible for hardware and software installation, maintenance, and repair. My role included performing routine system audits and generating project cost estimates for clients, while also managing and optimizing IT expenditure on hardware and software.
I developed and maintained company IT systems to reduce costs and implement efficiency improvements, reporting directly to the IT Director and Chief Executive. My position required excellent time management, confidentiality, and communication skills, alongside strong telecommunications technical, commercial, planning, and budgeting capabilities.
Additional responsibilities included managing server software and associated backup routines, evaluating and supporting IT-related projects, developing risk management procedures and policies, and procuring IT hardware, software, and maintenance products and services. I was also responsible for recruiting and training new staff, maintaining documentation for ICT procedures, security, and disaster recovery, and administering changes regarding users, functions, and systems. My role encompassed managing the internal and hosted network infrastructure, including enterprise virus protection, firewalls, servers, switches, routers, remote backup systems, and NEC IP telephony.
ICT MANAGER / SYSTEMS ENGINEER
Oversaw and coordinated technology direction and strategy, process improvement, and quality enhancement across the institution. My responsibilities included managing IT corporate standards compliance, asset management, project planning, budgeting, forecasting, and customer relationship management.
I directed IT teams in designing, building, implementing, managing, supporting, and enhancing key technologies. A significant achievement was upgrading all servers to four of the latest 12-core Dell PowerEdge rack-mounted servers with two Dell EqualLogic Storage Attached Networks (SANs) and a VMware 7 vSphere Enterprise vCenter Platform. I upgraded, migrated, and installed 10 Microsoft Windows VM Server 2012 R instances and maintained up to 30 virtualizations running on Windows 10 Enterprise to support the Citrix XenApp System, configured with integration to a CISCO ASA VPN and Firewall Switch for military-grade remote access.
The central server systems operated with up to four dual 10,000mb NICs and a 10,000mb Fiber Optics Central HP Blade Layer 3 Industrialized Scale Blade Switch, providing connectivity to 10,000mb HP ProCurve, Netgear, Dell, and CISCO switching outcrops throughout the school. I implemented and configured an HP ProCurve WiFi Enterprise Network with security driven from a central HP service module, functioning at WiFi 802.11AC across the entire campus.
In addition to Shadow Copy active on the SANs, I deployed a 10-terabyte NAS Synology Server as redundant backup, which also functioned as a UNIX operating system server for Video Streaming Services, Web Services, and Cloud Storage Systems. Its Solid State Hard-drive Cache proved exceptionally effective, outperforming the EqualLogic SAN network in testing, leading me to map and share Staff and Student Shared Drives on it as well.
We were the first school to integrate Office 365 Azure with Google and Apple cloud systems into local enterprise services, and I shared my implementation documentation with the Catholic Education Office, which was subsequently distributed to other schools. I also managed the deployment of 500 new Dell Laptops from Digital Education Revolution funding, organizing them into mobile lab trolleys for classroom bookings, and later transitioned students to a highly successful one-to-one iPad Program at the Principal's request.
ICT MANAGER
Hired to drive IT innovation, restructure staffing, and deliver IT systems transformation, my role focused on improving internal and external corporate business relationships to advance a leading Apple private school's cloud-based learning capabilities and develop IT resources in a digital delivery system platform. I successfully lobbied the Labour Government to direct ICT advancement funding toward WAN-level infrastructure for the digital education revolution while pioneering mobile access technologies and system integration delivery. My expertise was recognized when I was invited as a Keynote Speaker for ACEC in 2006, presenting "Interacting the Future L.A.N."
I led initiatives to implement Cathednet Wide Area Network changes, supporting upgrades to Windows VM Servers, Central SQL Administration, Central Exchange Services in the cloud, and statewide enterprise virus protection as base standards for centralized operations. These changes were implemented without service interruption while expanding service reach through a group buying initiative across the Cathednet WA enterprise.
I spearheaded the design, testing, and standardization of IT procedures in collaboration with the Catholic Education Office to centralize standards for IPO growth and initiated data and network disaster recovery plans aligned with core business drivers, timeframes, and budgets. Kolbe was among the first schools to implement Wireless LAN technology, which I expanded to provide comprehensive WiFi access across the campus.
IT MANAGER
Managed technology initiatives and dramatically expanded the school network from a single internet-connected computer via a Linux RedHat Proxy Server to a comprehensive Fiber Optic Backbone Star Network. This network provided connectivity to every classroom and office through network ports on CAT5 cabling connected to 3Com 100mb network switches.
I implemented three computer labs with 32 desktops each and 50 library desktops for reference purposes, configured student network access, and installed Proxy Cache with NetNanny real-time monitoring and logging, McAfee Enterprise End-to-End Solution, and internet safety content restrictions.
A significant achievement was creating and implementing an Active Directory automation script that utilized SQL Admin Enrollments Data to automatically create network clients, place them in the domain, assign groups, group policies, and permissions. This automation reduced end-user support tickets by 200% by streamlining data entry from the administrative secretary's enrollment tasks in the Maze SQL database.
